The First Day I Learned Meditation

In the spring of 2013, exactly a decade ago, when I was only 18 years old, I fell into a state of extreme depression after experiencing a broken love as well as financial pressure while studying abroad. That could be considered the worst time of my life so far.

I isolate myself from everyone around me and just stay in my room. Outside, the road was covered with snow, and the air was cold. Only trying to sleep can help me forget the suffering at that time, but when I wake up, the reality is terrible. I didn't know that I was depressed at the time.

My head is so heavy, my heart is aching every day, it feels so hard to breathe and stuffy. I want to find a way to ease this pain. I buy candles and leave them all over the room, then turn off all the lights, sit in one place and look at myself in the mirror or look at the candles without blinking. Also helps a little bit.

Then a certain fate brought me to relaxing music, I put on headphones and lay in one place, just listening and breathing. I didn't know I was Meditation. I just listen to music, breathe to calm my head, and then sometimes fall asleep.

I later found out, I was meditating at that time.

In the blink of an eye, 10 years have passed, and Zen is just that for me. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I don't. Now, I meditate more than lying down. Only that simple. Sit, breathe and relax.

Meditation for me has not changed much, but there is one thing that changes a lot every day, which is life and experiences. It is my life and experiences that make each meditation session different, or my trips to study Zen also leave different feelings.

I hope, I will have enough time to tell you more stories from the past 10 years in the next emails. About Meditation, Yoga, about life, relationships. Hope it helps us connect with each other or share something good with you.
